Festival of Free

In all my time spent dedicated to working, it’s nice to breath in fresh air and walk around the city. I’ve always loved walking in downtown Fort Worth it has this smooth vibe to it, and you never know what you’re going to get into. Most people on the weekends run to the borders of Dallas like it’s “God touched promised land,” yet Fort Worth always captures my eyes. Leave it to me to stumble into the Main Street Festival, plus when you say the word “blog,” free stuff just pours out.

Like most adventures it starts with a random “I want to go somewhere,” and then off you go. I would love to say that I have some elaborate method I follow, but it’s honestly just that simple. I have a love of food and specifically fair food, and this festival had all the fair food you could want.

The first place that caught my eye was “Dolly’s,” Forth Worth based BBQ joint that’s been on the festival circuit since 1994, and has even been spotted on the show “Man vs. Food“.  Dolly’s is home to the “Bahama momma,” a well seasoned kielbasa complimented with a sweet pineapple fused krout on a toasted bun. It was a free “Bahama Momma,” just for the fact I said “blog“.

It’s nice to know that despite standing for hours on end, dealing with crazy Texas weather, and customers… Nothing says “turnt up” like a free corn dog, it justs tastes better than the one you pay for, and the guy’s made this blogger’s night.

I promise not ALL of my time at the festival was spent eating, but a majority of it was. Though I was dropping the word “blog” as much as possible to get free Sh**T, I did spend money. I’m a firm believer in “if you spend money, spend it on what you want and never settle“. I saw a sign that said “Ribs: All you can eat,” and I did my best to eat as much as possible.

Risky’s ribs, welcome to Texas! (had fries, but I ate them before the pic)

I also got a chance to see some well done metal work, I hate that at this time it looked like it was starting to rain. Yet it was really well done work, and it was something about this flamingo that I couldn’t resist taking a picture. The amount of detail that went into was amazing, plus I got a chance to catch the main act playing. I couldn’t find a set list to tell you who they were, but there were a lot of stages set up on all of Main Street and the pavilion. It’s safe to assume they were a “main act,” or at least paid enough to be on the big stage.

I also got into a fight with a bird…. (no questions please)

Other highlights included my Uber driver getting lost and having to help him navigate the city! He wanted me to give him a rating right on the spot, he dead ass watched me give him my rating. So for fear of my life or bringing dishonor to his household (you choose), I gave him the rating he so desired and went on my merry way, ending a beautiful night of free food & entertainment.

Peace to the planet, and live awesome“.
